Description
"Nosferatu" was written as a twelve-tone study during my first year of composition studies at Michigan. Paul Schoenfield, my teacher, had encouraged me to expand past tonal writing, pretty much by having me do a 180-degree turn. I enjoyed writing this homage to expressionist films and hearing him play it at the piano, and the piece is a short, fun way to approach playing atonal music.
